Dear Sir and brother, I have written a history on my old primary school Kings Glen, here in my home town in Greenock, which is being demolished.

I have written the book as a mark of respect to the staff at Ardgowan Hospice and the McMillan Nurses who looked after my young brother James, who passed away with cancer, last year.

I was wondering if you could find a way of asking your brethren for a small donation, to help get the book published.

I am not looking for an exhorbitant amount of money just something in the region of £10.00 to £20.00, we have 44 lodges in the province if each lodge gave me something, I can get the book self published from a firm in England at a cost of £450.00 pounds.

When I get it published I will send a copy to your lodge to show that your brethren's monies went to a very worthwhile cause.

A Happy New Year to all the Brethren at Lodge Irvine St. Andrew from the eight Somerset Masons who paid a visit to your social club for a Sunday morning drink on Sunday 19th December following our attendance at the Mother Kilwinning Lodge Installation meeting the previous day. Our special thanks to John Payne for making us so welcomed (1996 was a good year!) and we hope to meet up with you again one day. Just to let you know that our Sunday evening flight from Glasgow to Bristol airport was cancelled due to the snow at 9.00pm that evening but by making a taxi dash to Glasgow Central train station and catching night and morning trains plus more taxis from Bristol train station, we eventually arrived home Monday afternoon. Our visit was certainly worthwhile though and all eight of us had a great time. We shall be back!
