St Andrew Cronies Burns Club

Instituted 1947

No 671 on the roll of the Burns Federation

 

Constitution and Rules

1-The society shall be know as the St Andrew's Cronies Burns Club, and its aim shall be to extend the knowledge of the works of Robert Burns and to support the objects of the Burns Federation.

2-Membership shall be open to Freemasons of whatever Lodge or Constitution, on payment of Entry Fee of Five Shillings. An Annual Fee of Two Shillings, payable at or before the A.G.M. of the Club, shall be levied on all members.

3-The A.G.M. of the Club will take place on the second Thursday of September of each year, and the Annual Burns Supper on the 25th day of January or on such other near date as shall be decided.

4- At the A.G.M.,the Club will elect a President who shall act as such for one year, and shall not be eligible for re-election for a space of three years. It shall be the prerogative of the President to nominate his Vice -President at the A.G.M.

5- The Committee shall consist of the President, Vice-President, and Five Members, one of whom shall be appointed to the dual office of Secretary and Treasurer. These Five Members shall retire at the end of one year, but be eligible for re-election.

6- The President and Committee shall have the power to convene other Meetings of the Club as they decide.

7- On receipt of a requisition signed by Seven or more Members, the President shall be required to call a Meeting of Committee to discuss the business in hand and decide as to further proceedings.

8- At any Meeting of the Club, with the exception of the Annual Burns Supper, it shall be competent for Members to propose and second Applicants for Membership.

9- In all matters not provided for above the rules generally observed in such Clubs shall hold good.

The above Rules and Constitution were draw up by the founder members on the 18th December 1947. the founder members are as follows.
